Kirk Springer

Owner/Project Executive

Kirk has extensive knowledge in commercial construction that he has gained since graduating from Texas A&M in 1986 with a degree in Construction Science. In 2004, Kirk decided to take what he had learned and founded Cantera Design Builders. Since the inception of CDB, Kirk has led his team to build over 5 million sq. ft. of, specifically, tilt-wall construction projects for the automotive industry, large warehouses (including refrigeration), in addition to office and medical buildings. Kirk’s ability to anticipate constructability issues during the design phase helps minimize surprise, change orders and redesign. More recently, under Kirk’s leadership, CDB has added a tenant buildout division to complete CDB’s turn key services in the construction process.

Kirk resides in Austin, TX with his wife Susan, and their three dogs. In Kirk’s spare time he is a high-performance driver instructor for Team Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. He also enjoys going to NASCAR races with his wife and friends.

Susan Springer

Tenant Buildout/Project Executive

Susan joined Cantera Design Builders in 2017. Susan manages the Tenant Improvement Division. She executes a full menu of services including cost estimated and budgeting, scheduling, permitting, design and construction management.

Prior to joining CDB, Susan was integral part of the leadership team for one of the largest restoration contractors for 15 years. She now puts her expertise to the client’s use, equipping them with knowledge and clearness into the construction industry. Her cost estimated skills and relationship with the subcontractor community ensures clients obtain fair and efficient pricing, maximizing the value of their construction dollar. Her attention to detail gives clients the confidence to stay focused on their own business throughout the process.

Susan resides in Austin, Tx with her husband, Kirk, and their three sweet fur babies. Susan loves to travel and explore the world in her spare time. She also enjoys going to NASCAR races with her husband and friends.

Katherine Lynn Stevens

Office Manager

With over 15 years of experience in office management and a track record of strong performance in high-volume, high-pressure environments, Kathy skillfully manages all the administrative functions in the office. She wears many hats in her position of Office Manager, as well as, directly handles all financial matters such as client billing, accounts payable, payroll and banking. Using her organizational skills, she ensures that everything runs smoothly in a busy work environment.

Kathy resides in Lantana, Tx. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her two adorable puppies. In her spare time, she loves to fish, go to the beach and enjoy the sun with a good book.

Arthur Gonzales

Superintendent

Arthur has been with Cantera Design Builders since 2005. During his time, he has been part of the team that has built more the 5 million sq. ft. of commercial construction projects. His responsibilities include managing the subcontractors during the construction phase of commercial projects, keeping projects on schedule and within the budget. Arthur’s knowledge of the construction industry helps provide the client with maximizing their construction dollars.

Arthur resides in San Antonio, TX. He enjoys spending time in McAllen with his family and riding his horses.

Robert Gonzales

Superintendent

Robert joined Cantera Design Builders in 2014. Due to Robert’s attention to detail and quick learning skills he has quickly advance to managing his own projects. His exceptional relationships with the subcontractors allow his jobs to be done on schedule and on budget.

Robert resides in San Antonio, TX. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
